E picks up the nearest item on the ground, and interacts with nearby NPCs, waypoints and chests.
Loot comes first: if a dropped item is in reach, E takes it — one item per press, so press again for the next one.
You can also click loot, NPCs and chests directly.
Keys 1-9 activate the main hotbar slots.
There's also an extra top row (no keys) — click those slots to use them. Toggle it with the chevron next to the bar.

Drag a skill out of a slot and drop it anywhere to unassign it (or right-click to clear).

Every icon in the top-right bar can be moved or removed — see "Customize Your Icon Bar" below.
The two rows of icons in the top-right corner are yours to arrange.
Open it from the Menu (☰) → Customize HUD.
Drag an icon into either row to put it on your HUD, or drag it down to the tray to take it off. Drop an icon between two others to change the order. If you'd rather not drag, double-click an icon and it moves for you.
Each row holds up to 12 icons. Press Save to apply, Cancel to leave things as they were, or Reset to Default to put the bar back the way it shipped.
The Menu (☰) icon is fixed in place and can't be removed — it's how you get back to this screen.
Your arrangement is saved on this device, so it stays put between sessions and doesn't affect your other characters.
The arrow next to the bar still hides every icon except the Menu when you want a clear view.
Type these in the chat box:
ENTER - Open chat / send message
/w <name> <message> - Message a player privately (also /whisper, /msg)
/r <message> - Reply to the last person who messaged you (also /reply)
Each private conversation opens as its own tab in the chat box; click the ✕ on the tab to close it. See Multiplayer → Direct Messages.
Tap the 🌐 button on any chat message to translate it into your language — the translation appears under the original (which stays). Tap 🌐 again to hide or re-show it.
Your language defaults to your device's; change it in Options → Gameplay → "Chat Translate To".
Note: translating a message sends its text to Google Translate to be translated.
Almost every key above can be remapped. Open Options (O or the side menu ☰) and select the Controls tab.
Click a binding, then press the new key — Esc cancels. If the key is already used by another binding, you'll be asked to confirm; accepting swaps the two so nothing is left unbound.
Reset to Defaults restores the original layout. Bindings are saved on your device and shared across all characters.
Note: Esc (menu/cancel) and the camera-rotate keys ([ and ]) are fixed and can't be remapped.
Mouse scroll wheel to zoom in/out.
[ and ] to rotate the camera left/right.
Pinch-to-zoom on mobile/touchscreen.
On mobile devices, touch controls appear automatically:
The Ride button on your shortcut bar calls your mount, and pressing it again sets you down.
It is hidden until you own a mount. Like every other icon on that bar you can drag it somewhere else, or off it entirely, from Customize Interface.
