1. What we collect
From Steam when you sign in
- Your Steam ID and Steam display name. We use them to create and recognise your game account. The Game signs you in with credentials generated from your Steam identity; we do not ask for your email address or your Steam password.
When you play
- Your characters and progress: level, class, items, gold, Lumina balance, quests, settings saved to the cloud.
- Gameplay and economy records: drops, trades and marketplace listings, upgrades, purchases of in-game items with Lumina, and similar transaction logs. These keep the in-game economy fair and let us restore lost items.
- Presence: which map and channel you are on and when you were last online, so other players and the servers can find you.
- Chat messages you send in global, map and dungeon chat, with the time they were sent, and the names you choose for characters and guilds.
- Technical connection data: your IP address and network information, which the game servers need to connect to you.
- Signals used to detect cheating and exploits, such as impossible stat values, abnormal speed, or item counts that do not match our records.
When you buy Lumina
- Purchases are made through Steam. We receive the order details (order ID, item, amount, currency, status and your Steam ID). We never see or store your card or bank details — Steam handles payment.
When the Game crashes or you send a report
- A crash report: the Game's log from that session, the Game version, the map you were on, your PC's hardware and settings (graphics card, processor, memory, operating system version, graphics settings), and related entries from the Windows error log about the Game's crash. A report is sent automatically after a crash, or when you press "Report a Bug". It is used only to find and fix problems.
On the website
- echoesofcreation.net does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to operate and protect the site.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health, religion or precise location), and we do not use advertising trackers or sell any information.
2. Why we use it
- To run the Game: your account, characters, progress, multiplayer, chat, trading and purchases.
- To keep it fair and safe: detecting cheating, exploits and duplication; moderating chat; enforcing the EULA.
- To support you: restoring lost items, investigating problems you report, and answering your messages.
- To fix and improve the Game: crash reports, performance and balance statistics.
Where a law requires a legal basis (for example the GDPR for players in the EU/UK), we rely on the performance of our contract with you (the EULA) to run the Game, our legitimate interests in keeping it secure, fair and working, and our legal obligations (for example, keeping purchase records).
3. Automated anti-cheat decisions
Automated systems check gameplay and economy data for cheating and exploits. They can flag an account, block a suspicious action, or reverse items obtained through a bug. Permanent bans are reviewed by a person. If you believe an automated decision about you was wrong, contact us and a person will review it.
4. Moderation and evidence
Chat messages are stored so other players can see recent history and so we can moderate. When we act against an account for what it wrote, we keep a record of the exact messages, their times and our decision as evidence, even if the messages are removed from the chat. If we believe someone's safety is at real risk — for example a threat of violence — we may share that record with law enforcement.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that run the Game for us, and only what they need:
- Valve (Steam) — sign-in and payments, under Steam's own privacy policy.
- Supabase — our database and account service, which stores game data.
- Server hosting providers — the machines that run the game servers, in the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
- Discord — our community server, and private staff channels where the Game posts operational alerts (for example a new crash report). What you post on Discord is covered by Discord's policy.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety (§4).
Other players can see what any online game shows: your character name, level, class, appearance, guild, location in the world, chat messages and marketplace listings, and leaderboard rankings.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
6. Where it is stored
We are based in Canada; our service providers store and process data in other countries, including the United States and the Asia-Pacific region. Data stored abroad is subject to the laws of those countries. We use providers that protect it to industry standards.
7. How long we keep it
- Account, character and progress data: for as long as your account exists.
- Economy and purchase records: as long as needed to keep the economy consistent, resolve disputes and meet tax and accounting obligations, which can be longer than the account itself.
- Chat messages and crash reports: for as long as they are useful for moderation, safety and fixing problems.
- Enforcement records (§4): as long as needed to uphold the decision and protect players.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR and Korea's PIPA), you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your account and its personal information (some records may be kept as described in §7);
- stop or limit a particular use of your information, or object to it.
Email [email protected] from any address, with your character name and Steam display name, so we can find your account. We may ask you to confirm the request from inside the Game or Steam to prove the account is yours. We answer within 30 days. Deleting your account permanently removes your characters, items and Lumina.
If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the data protection authority where you live.
9. Children
The Game is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Game data is stored with access limited to the developer and the services in §5. Administrative keys never ship in the Game. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires.
11. Changes
We will update this policy as the Game changes and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the Game or on our Discord.
